SHEILA VENANCIA

SHEILA VENANCIA

Sheila Venancia was born in Brazil and is a world traveler.  At the recommendation of one of her clients, Sheila came to Sarasota in 2006 for a vacation and fell in love with this beautiful city on the Gulf of Mexico.  What she discovered was that Sarasota is a mecca for her passion…art in all its forms and fashions.

Sheila is a self-taught artist that paints by the name Sheila V.  She creates abstract compositions inspired by her youth watching clouds move across the sky, using her imagination to interpret the story they told.  Art is her “life therapy” that provides for a sense of expression, accomplishment and fulfillment.

Her use of colors, sometimes dark and moody, sometimes bright and colorful, is an extension of all her past and present experiences.  She works primarily with acrylic and epoxy resins, sometimes incorporating other elements such as crystals and seashells.  Each piece starts with a general vision of the emotion she wants to create that slowly comes together as she applies various techniques and affects to manipulate the medium she is working with, sometimes taking on a life of its own.

As an artist, Sheila strives to create beauty that flows and excites the imagination of those looking upon her creations.  Like the clouds in the sky, each person is likely to see something different in her paintings.  Though she gives each piece a name based on her preferred orientation and interpretation, she invites viewers to rotate her art and find their own meaning in the painting.
